The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Boston College invites applications for the position of Coordinator of the Italian Language Program with the rank of Assistant Professor of the Practice. This is a three-year renewable, full-time appointment, beginning July 1, 2024.

 

The Coordinator of the Italian Language Program administers a large, multi-section language program, comprising the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. The applicant must have a Ph.D. (in hand by June 2024) in Italian Studies with substantial experience in language program coordination and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional pedagogical training through participation in national conferences and workshops. The successful candidate will also have native or near-native ability in both Italian and English.

 

This Assistant Professor of the Practice role has a 3-3 teaching load, with a 2-course release for the Coordinator responsibilities.  Additional responsibilities include conducting pre-service and in-service workshops, performing class observations, addressing student concerns, and developing exams, quizzes and other course materials, in addition to the training of our Teaching Fellows (student teachers from our M.A. program). The Language Coordinator also collaborates with the other full-time Italian faculty in organizing the extracurricular activities of our department.
